Friday Journaling Prompt...

We’re back from our summer break, and we’ll be posting our “Friday Journaling Prompt on here and IG again!

What a week this has been! It started out in Paris and was then drastically changed with my husband’s fall and coming home to him instead of him joining me in for our anniversary trip. (This is me at my favorite park on the last day in Paris, enjoying lunch while journaling… not knowing I would be on an airplane less than 24 hours later)

So much of what we think life should look like, or the plans we make, change. Kids get sick, loved ones have accidents, test results don’t come back the way we’d like… you fill in the blank with a million other scenarios…

and life is altered.

So how do we handle all of life’s changes and disappointments, or the fear that comes with these changes? How do we discern what God’s will is for us in this big picture called LIFE?

I’ve been thinking a lot about this this week, so I thought I’d bring that into our journaling prompt for this weekend.

So can I talk to you… Mother, wife, daughter, sister, grandma or teenager.

No matter who you are, where you live, or what you do in life, we will have trials. And we do a disservice to ourselves and those around us if our “goal” in life is to try and eliminate these trials.  It’s not possible, no matter how much we’d like to try.

Paul reminds us of this in Romans 8… Which I know is SO counter cultural to what this world preaches these days. We’ve become obsessed with the “American dream” of health, wealth and prosperity.

So here’s your prompt for this weekend:

How do we find the joy of the Lord IN the trials we face? How can we know God’s will and purpose, and GROW in an abundant life through them? How are we more than conquerors in Him who loves us?

Friends, this generation is growing up with less joy and purpose in life than ever before.

That is not the will of God for us.

Read Romans 8 and John 10 this weekend and then read a commentary on what Jesus and Paul are trying to teach us.

There is so much freedom in Christ when we live our lives fully tethered to the cross of Jesus Christ! We need to remind our hearts and those around us that His death changed everything!! And the abiding life IS an abundant life… even during the trials!

Let us live in this truth.

Then let us live it out daily.

And let it flood us with His peace so much so that it spills out in a joy that others see and are changed by it.

Then listen to “The Blessing” and let the tears flow.

He is for you friend.

And He’s got this. ❤️

Hugs,

Laura
