Monday plans...

Today I am reminded of a few things... in which I want to give God all the glory because He IS Good.

  • #1 is that today I was supposed to get on an airplane to France for our Art & Faith Creative Retreat that was to start this coming Friday.

  • #2 is that God is good to show me/remind me that He IS good.

Weeks ago I had everything ready to go: suitcase packed, gifts packaged up pretty, plans all SET.  Today would have been a fun start to all of that. Darn it.

Yesterday our Pastor (who faithfully reads chapter by chapter, verse by verse) felt the Lord was telling him to preach on this: “We Know that the Lord is Good.”  I’m pretty sure the Lord knew I needed to be reminded of that truth. And maybe you do too...

Naham 1:7says “The Lord is good, a stronghold in the days of trouble; And He knows those who trust in Him.”

Sometimes it’s hard to believe God is good when things don’t go the way we want, right? We may doubt this when we don’t know what’s going on? But this is where the rubber meets the road friends.  This is the spiritual battle for our lives! Right here... Do we believe God is good, no matter what? This world will try to undermine this truth, the enemy will try to take advantage of moments such as we are living in right now to dissuade us from believing this.  But do we stand on what we say we believe in Romans 8:28 “And we KNOW that ALL things work together for GOOD, to those who love God, to those who are called according to His purpose.”

Friends, hear these truths from Naham 1:

  • The Lord is good

  • He is our stronghold(protection, refuge, safety..) in times of trouble

  • He knows those who trust in Him

Just because God is good doesn’t mean we won’t go through trials. (John 16:33) There WILL be trials, there will be wrenches in our plans, and there will be sorrows in life. But God. Through these... He is still GOOD. And He wants us to know His compassion, know His shelter, know His comfort... in the middle of it all!

I know not leaving today for this retreat is not life ending, and God HAS been good to help us reschedule and work all the details out! ! It just reminded me that trials, or trouble, WILL reveal where we are headed spiritually. Are we running TO Him and His protection, peace, refuge, strength.... or running away from Him?

Know this: No matter the direction you may be running right now, The goodness of God is chasing after YOU... and the ONLY place you’ll find true peace is when you turn and walk, or run, towards Jesus. He wants you to TRUST in Him, take SHELTER in Him and KNOW that He IS Good.

Take a few minutes today to listen to this beautiful song:

The Goodness of God by Jen Johnson on YouTube.

Have a great day,
