Friday Journaling Prompts are BACK!

Stand up.. and wait for God and God alone.

“For God alone my soul waits in silence; from him comes my salvation. He alone is my rock and my salvation, my fortress; I shall not be greatly shaken.” Psalm 62:1-2

I love David’s quiet confidence in God ALONE, even during deep trouble.  Chapter 62 he is fully focused on standing firmly in the strength and salvation of his God.  It is his decision to trust in nothing and no one else but God alone. I thank God for these powerful examples in His Word.🙌🏻

He knows we are tempted to rely on ourselves, and our own understanding, to figure out what is going on in this crazy/scary/evil world of ours, but it’s a choice, a decision, to wait in silence for the Lord to work things out.

That’s not easy though, right?

David is reminding us of a few things here:

~ We need to stand firmly in God ALONE.

~ Our confidence is found in God ALONE.

~ We need to quiet the noise and wait on God ALONE.

I know my natural self is prone to think long and hard, stress about, and run scenarios through my mind when I don’t know what to do.

Maybe that’s you as well?

We want to reason when we ought to BELIEVE…

We want to try to “work it out” when we ought to be QUIET…

We want to go our own way when we ought to WAIT…

Friends, it is way past time to let go of our natural self (i.e.flesh) and not let this world shake us.

It’s time to get ALONE with God and like David says in verse 1: “Truly my soul waits…” (NKJV) we need to surrender in silence before God alone.

Today let us not be shaken as we wait in silence and stand in God alone to show us the way through. 🙌🏻

So here is the “Friday Journaling Prompt” I think we all need to ponder and write down this weekend:

How can we have the quiet assurance David has that God is his rock & salvation?

Let’s go before God in silence this weekend and ask ourselves this question. ❤️

Hugs to all,

Laura McCollough
